By designing inhibitors of deubiquitinating proteases (DUBs), they aim to create drugs that are able to specifically increase degradation of known cancer pro-survival proteins such as MCL-1 and ETS-1, key anti-apoptotic and pro-proliferative proteins upregulated in many tumors.
